Harry Geraghty, long time coach from Lyman Hall, Canton, Rockville, South Windsor and Wethersfield, passed away last Saturday. Harry was 78. He was a CHSCA award winning coach in 1986 for girls cross country, in 1991 for boys cross country, and in 1993 for girls track and field. Coach Geraghty was elected into the CHSCA Hall of Fame in 2002. Harry was a friend and mentor to many coaches and his smile and warm laughter will be missed.
Calling hours are on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Saint Bernard\'s Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Memorial donations in Coach Geraghty\'s memory may be made to the Alzheimer\'s Association , CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

Congratulations to John Fontana on this recognition from the Connecticut Association of Athletic Directors at their 26th Annual Awards Banquet held on March 25th at the Rocky Hill Marriott. This award recognizes John Fontana’s work as the Executive Director of the CHSCA and his concerted efforts to improve interscholastic athletics in Connecticut. As stated in the CAAD Awards night program, “a review of his resume reveals a far reaching influence he has had on high school athletics as a teacher, coach, guidance counselor and leader of the Connecticut High School Coaches Association.” The CHSCA would like to thank the CAAD Executive Board and their director Fred Balsamo for their hospitality and generosity during the banquet.
